01 /A connected perspective

About

See the system.
Connect the parts.

I’m a systems thinker. I identify gaps and relationships across people, process and technology, then design structures that increase what people and organisations can do.

The through-line is systems architecture. It connects infrastructure, knowledge, AI and governance with the people and processes they serve. I look for where those parts are disconnected and how better structures can create lasting capability.

A foundation in platform engineering

Platform engineering is the technical foundation of my work. My background spans SRE, cloud infrastructure and technical leadership across enterprise, financial services, media, blockchain, AI and highly regulated public-sector environments.

I’ve built and contributed to global and multi-region Kubernetes platforms, AWS and cloud infrastructure, internal developer platforms, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability and reliability systems. Developer enablement, self-service infrastructure, Golden Paths, automation and platform governance are central to that foundation.

Connecting the wider system

My work spans platform engineering, AI systems, organisational knowledge and the digital infrastructure that connects them.

That broader territory includes developer platforms, knowledge and retrieval systems, AI and inference infrastructure, agents, and the governance and controls around them. Organisational knowledge and AI governance are growing areas of enquiry within this work.

I am particularly interested in how organisations can take knowledge distributed across people, documents, systems and processes and turn it into governed digital and AI capabilities.

Scaletific

Scaletific is the commercial expression of this systems thinking. We help businesses turn ideas and operational challenges into digital products and systems that work: taking something that exists in someone’s head or in a messy operational state and making it real, systematic and capable of scaling.

We help in three broad ways:

  • Launch: websites, digital products, MVPs and platforms.
  • Transform: modernise and automate existing business systems and workflows.
  • Scale: infrastructure, platforms, AI capability and governance when complexity warrants it.

Our capabilities span digital products and websites, business systems and automation, AI and knowledge systems, and platforms and infrastructure. We choose the technology to suit the problem and the stage of the business.

I also created Automation Switch, an AI and automation publication that became an experiment in structuring information for both humans and AI systems.

The human system

The Container Project applies the same systems thinking to human capacity: building the human system capable of carrying an ambitious life. It asks how we can carry meaningful work and responsibility while preserving the person doing it.

Across these areas, my approach is to see the system, identify the gap or constraint, connect previously disconnected elements, design an intervention, put it into practice, observe the outcome and improve it.
