From my reading

Inner Excellence

Chapter 1

Winning can create a false sense of security, while losing can provide some of the most valuable opportunities for learning and growth. Both are outcomes to experience without allowing either to distort how we see ourselves or the quality of the process that produced them.

Takeaway: Judge the process before the outcome. Success and failure both contain information, and neither should have too much authority over identity or behaviour.

Inner Excellence

Chapter 2

The mind and body require continual training, regular renewal and rest when needed. Greater freedom also comes from loosening excessive self-focus and the protective mental clutter that accompanies it.

My takeaway: Capacity requires training, renewal and rest. Excellence comes from developing the system while giving it the recovery required to remain healthy, present and capable.
