Automation Switch

Problem

I wanted to understand where emerging and transformative technologies were converging, and what those connections could make possible. Automation Switch began as a publication through which I could explore that question.

Over time, the question became more specific: how can technology, particularly AI, create exponential results when applied to the right problem, in the right context and situation?

System / intervention

I created Automation Switch from scratch and developed it through successive iterations over the years. Its editorial direction evolved with the questions I wanted the publication to explore.

The initial focus was the convergence of emerging and transformative technologies. Today, the focus is their application: understanding the context, recognising the situation and identifying where a technology can make a meaningful difference.

AI is central to that enquiry. The ambition is to explore where its application can produce results that compound or extend what people and organisations are capable of achieving.

Contribution

I brought the publication into existence and shaped its evolving purpose. That work has involved revisiting what Automation Switch is for, which questions it should pursue and how its coverage connects technological capability to practical application.

Outcome

Automation Switch developed from an initial idea into a publication that has gone through multiple iterations. Its current focus connects technology coverage with a more specific question about context, application and the potential for exponential results.

That potential defines the editorial enquiry. Measured examples and results can be added as supporting case material becomes available.

Learning

The evolution of Automation Switch reflects a shift in my own thinking: from identifying technological convergence to understanding the conditions in which technology becomes useful.

The problem, the people involved and the situation shape how a capability should be applied. Exploring those relationships now gives the publication its direction.
